Peri-Urban Grower (paid role)
To begin with we will need someone for 6 hours per week, broken up into 2 x 3 hour initially
determined according to your availability,
then becoming your regular work hours, which must be adhered to each week.
This will be starting as casual employment with a probationary period of 3 months with the potential of increased hours, turning into a permanent part-time position for the right person.
According to your qualifications/experience, you will be either on a level 2 ($31.23/hour) or level 3 Gardening and Landscaping Award ($32.61/hour)
General Duties Include:

maintaining a productive market gardening vegetable plot (planting, weeding, trellising, pruning, mulching, spreading compost etc)

attending our weekly operational meeting

developing good communication with the resident(s) of your plot

Facilitating social outreach/volunteer sessions on your plot once every couple of months
Essential Requirements
- Own smart phone
- Own vehicle
- Own computer
- Experience market gardening/vegetable farming will be highly regarded for this position
- Excellent communication skills/punctuality/attention to detail
- Will to learn and openness to always be learning
- Ability to take on feedback from the coordinator and the rest of the team
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to work autonomously as well as to take on/complete assigned tasks
- A passion for social justice and a will/readiness to work with others
- Current Working With Children's Check
Preferred but not essential:
-
Experience using online platforms such as Trello, Wix, Facebook and Instagram

Some practical experience building light structures (fences, trellises etc)

Some practical experience/knowledge of social work/youth work /eco therapy
